Aim to hit straight on. To get the blood, you're going to have to do some damage, but hitting with any upward motion is sending cartilage dangerously close to the cerebral cortex. A nominal amount of force is needed, don't wind up.

up to this point, all the fertility clinic screening has been online, dropdown menus. not really too extensive, either. maybe took a half hour total.

During this whole post, I kept scrolling down, hoping that it wouldn't end. I accidentally scrolled past the last post title, and thinking it continued for some time, I felt cheated when I saw the timestamp.

I realize that this is a journal, not a message board, but I too am lacking in the human contract these days (though not as extreme as you) and so, deal with it.

Your description of the shelter is great. I often wonder if you feel at all an impostor. I am surprised at the amount that fertility clinics are offering for semen these days- it used to be a tidy $25-50, but you could wage an honest living that way. Do they require much documentation in the way of your education, parentage, medical history? I find it humorous that such things are even considered, when the likeliness of your progeny having a successful life is fairly independent of your own success. I also wonder how many infertile 30-somethings are being inoculated with the sperm of the homeless, crank-addicted and such. I considered donating eggs, and then surrogacy. To carry another couple's embryo carries a $25K + $15K in expenses (not including medical).

I can't wait to read this one to Elliot. Stay clean and observational.
